Job Summary

This role is an integral part of the Manufacturing Engineering group within our Global Operations Engineering team at our state-of-the-art device manufacturing facility in North Charleston, South Carolina. As a key member of the team, you will drive and support manufacturing automation, with a particular focus on assembly processes and automated production equipment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Primary SME for automated production equipment, with a focus on downstream assembly operations and related equipment.
  • Improve system & equipment reliability for core processes to meet customer, business, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the development of improvement plans and requirements for capacity expansion and future production systems and processes.
  • Lead & support troubleshooting and issue resolution of critical production equipment to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Lead and support commissioning and acceptance testing of new production equipment.
  • Manage technology transfer (receiver function) of new products and processes into mass production.
  • Support validation activities as necessary.
  • Participate as a critical team member on project teams to start up new facilities, equipment, or processes.
  • Lead and support the identification of novel production equipment for next-gen manufacturing systems.
  • Promote use of new technologies and industry-leading trends. Provide highest level of technical expertise.
  • Collaborate closely with production teams, machine builders, process/product development groups, and the quality department on performance/process improvements, troubleshooting, and critical event response.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent education/experience required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering with automated production equipment, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Direct experience troubleshooting and/or improving manufacturing processes & equipment.
  • Knowledge of common problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies.
  • Effective analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and knowledge of CAD software.
  • Experience with industrial programming and/or software systems.
  • Excellent intercultural and interdisciplinary communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and focus on efficiency, effectiveness, and cost.
  • Passionate & committed self-starter with 'can do' attitude, team player, and taking responsibility to get the job done.
