Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement and Sourcing
    • Review current material costs and negotiate cost savings with suppliers.
    • Monitor incoming freight costs and manage budgets.
  • Supplier Management
    • Maintain and track supplier quality ratings, including on-time delivery and project portfolio management.
    • Manage returns of defective materials and authorize payment or return of merchandise.
  • Inventory Management
    • Maintain and perform monthly raw material inventory in compliance with UFP corporate procedures and Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Business Analysis
    • Analyze sales records, trends, and economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns and determine inventory needs.
    • Confer with sales and provide quotes/pricing as needed.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Attend daily production meetings and present material shortages or supplier issues.
    • Travel to suppliers approximately 5% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in material procurement or a related field, and 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical abilities and working knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
