Our Ultra High Net Worth Multi-Generational Families division specializes in serving post-liquidity families and corporate executives who require intricate estate and income tax planning and compliance. Our dedicated team adopts a comprehensive approach, simultaneously evaluating various aspects of a client's planning and compliance needs, including income tax, estate, gift, generation-skipping, philanthropic, retirement, and trust considerations. We work collaboratively with our clients, their legal advisors, and other specialists, both within and outside RSM, to fulfill our clients' objectives.

As a Senior Tax Strategist, your responsibilities will encompass the following, emphasizing your technical proficiency and collaborative spirit to deliver exceptional client service:

  • Provide guidance to ultra-high net worth clients on a comprehensive range of tax services, including wealth transfer, charitable giving, retirement planning, and tax compliance.
  • Lead the engagement team focused on individual, fiduciary, gift, generation-skipping, and estate taxation, ensuring the planning and execution of client tax engagements surpass client expectations and meet RSM's profitability standards.
  • Anticipate client requirements and collaborate with RSM colleagues in specialized tax areas, as well as across various business lines, to cultivate client relationships and support growth.
  • Engage in prospective client proposals and strategically plan to establish new client relationships.
  • Deliver an exceptional talent experience by fostering collaborative teams, mentoring, and rewarding team members.
  • Participate in local and national committees aimed at enhancing technical expertise and strategic initiatives.
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with clients, centers of influence, and other RSM advocates through networking, thought leadership, and community engagement.
  • Exhibit alignment with RSM's core values, vision, and strategy while empowering individuals to collaborate meaningfully and productively across the firm as an enterprise leader.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related business field.
  • CPA license in the principal place of business/home state, licensed J.D., or enrolled agent (with approval from the regional tax leader).
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on private client taxation, particularly with ultra-high net worth individuals. Recent experience should include leading all facets of client engagements and driving growth.
  • Proficiency in individual, fiduciary, and investment partnership taxation, with a solid understanding of complex investments and their tax implications, as well as estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxation.
  • Familiarity with multi-state taxation.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the capability to lead collaborative teams and manage a substantial book of business that exceeds client expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LL.M. in Taxation and/or Master's in Taxation.

Compensation Range: $137,700 - $276,700. Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
