As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing deliverables associated with substation design projects for one of our largest electric utility clients.
Key Responsibilities- Attend project site visits to assist in developing scope of work and defining project objectives.
- Prepare engineering cost estimates and man-hour estimates and schedules.
- Develop top-level documents for Electrical Physical and Protection & Control packages.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers and/or designers in developing detailed design documents.
- Perform calculations for studies and reports, including grounding & lightning protection, and AC/DC load studies.
- Perform quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.
- Provide short-term field support during construction.
- Coordinate design activities with other disciplines (Civil/structural, telecom, transmission).
- Serve as a technical advisor for the team.
- Properly apply client's substation design standards.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience working in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional Engineer's License in Electrical Engineering preferred but not required.
- High-level understanding of Southern California Edison's substation design standards.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
