We are seeking a full-time Activity Technician/Therapist to join our team at the Valdosta State Prison in Valdosta, Georgia. The successful candidate will work under the direction of professional mental health staff, using recreational/social/vocational activities to accomplish treatment objectives, foster skill building, and problem-solving in support of psychological stabilization for patients in a correctional setting.

Responsibilities

The Activity Technician/Therapist will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational and therapeutic activities for patients. This will include developing and leading group and individual activities, as well as collaborating with mental health staff to achieve treatment goals.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have two years of experience in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field, providing activities programming for persons with serious mental illness. They must also have an active Basic Life Support certification and be able to pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable.
