Overview of the Role The individual in this role is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, their families, visitors, and staff at MedStar. This position involves a variety of cleaning tasks throughout the facility, adhering to the standards set forth by MedStar and relevant regulatory bodies. The incumbent will also manage linen supplies and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Exhibits a friendly and cooperative service demeanor towards patients, families, visitors, and staff while contributing to a supportive healing environment.Conducts comprehensive daily cleaning in designated areas, following established protocols. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: executing a systematic cleaning process that involves greeting patients, managing waste, high dusting, sanitizing, and thorough restroom cleaning.Performs high dusting on all elevated surfaces and cleans all fixtures and furnishings. Spot cleans walls and windows, and ensures restrooms are disinfected and stocked with necessary supplies.Handles check-out and transfer cleaning as assigned, which includes preparing rooms for new patients by following established cleaning protocols.Engages in specialized cleaning processes in critical areas such as Labor & Delivery and Operating Rooms.Maintains cleanliness in common areas, including elevators, stairwells, and parking facilities.Manages the transportation of waste and operates cleaning machinery to uphold cleanliness standards across various surfaces.Assists in the arrangement of furniture for meetings and events as needed.Conducts routine inspections of assigned areas to identify and report maintenance needs.Utilizes a range of cleaning agents and equipment in compliance with safety regulations.Completes assigned tasks efficiently and accurately within designated timeframes.Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor, reflecting a commitment to high standards of service.Demonstrates awareness of safety practices and actively contributes to a safe working environment.Shows initiative in improving service quality and operational efficiency.Participates in ongoing training and development opportunities.Collaborates effectively with other departments to ensure comprehensive service delivery.Adheres to attendance and punctuality standards as outlined by departmental policies.Performs additional duties as required, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the team. Qualifications Required
Education
  • Completion of Tenth grade required.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience
  • No prior work experience necessary.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and cleaning procedures.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with diverse individuals.
