Position Overview
The Senior MW/MT/MD Sensor Modeling and Simulation Engineer will deliver analytical support, software development, systems engineering, and modeling and simulation assistance for government clients in the missile warning, tracking, and defense sectors. This role involves direct interaction with government representatives and collaboration with Aerospace program office personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance, mentorship, and leadership in the modeling and performance evaluation of MW/MT/MD sensors and their broader system architectures.
- Conduct extensive analyses utilizing a suite of modeling, simulation, and analytical tools, including proprietary and commercially available software.
- Evaluate electro-optical (EO), infrared (IR), radar, and passive radio frequency sensor designs, architectures, and algorithms.
- Develop and assess Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) signal processing algorithms, both on-board and ground-based, while analyzing their performance.
- Analyze ballistic and non-ballistic missile threats, including advanced targets, and model detection and tracking behaviors.
- Perform sensor constellation performance evaluations and verify contractor analysis results.
- Conduct Probability of Warning assessments for various sensor concepts.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- A degree in mathematics, electrical or aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree accompanied by twelve (12) years of relevant experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering analysis of EO/IR surveillance systems, including system evaluation and simulation.
- Experience in developing computer tools, simulations, and algorithms to support interdisciplinary analyses.
- A background in statistics, estimation, controls, or signal processing, with experience in EO/IR missile detection and tracking algorithms.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, C++, Python, C, or Java.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in analysis and leadership within the MW/MT/MD mission area.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while effectively engaging with high-level personnel.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
It would be advantageous if candidates have:
- An advanced technical degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in developing and evaluating mission processing algorithms.
- Experience with EO/IR system design trade studies and technology insertion.
- Experience in researching and applying innovative techniques for algorithm development.
- A current and active TS/SCI clearance.
