Key Responsibilities:
- Manage patient registration, update insurance details, schedule appointments, and perform additional tasks to facilitate patient scheduling.
- Engage with a diverse range of patients.
- Utilize electronic medical records to maintain accurate patient documentation through the registration process and scanning features.
- Understand state and governmental regulations to secure necessary consents for patients under state care; collaborate with facilities to obtain consents from patient representatives.
- Be well-versed in payer requirements for referrals and authorizations relevant to the assigned specialty.
- Coordinate follow-up appointments, referrals, and prior authorizations as necessary.
- Communicate professionally and promptly with all stakeholders, including healthcare providers, patients, clinical teams, and insurance representatives.
- Handle incoming calls and direct them to appropriate team members.
- Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to the established dress code.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the registration and scheduling processes for complex patient cases.
- Update the system with patient registration, scheduling, and insurance information.
- Prepare documentation for patient disability and absence from work/school.
- Discuss financial responsibilities and clarify regulatory forms, addressing any inquiries.
- Navigate multiple systems during patient interactions and phone inquiries to ensure accurate registration and support clinical workflows.
- Understand the strategic objectives of the practice and hospital.
- Support departmental policies, procedures, and initiatives within the scope of their role.
- Represent Albany Medical Center and uphold the values and principles of the department, practice, hospital, and center.
- Exemplify Albany Med CARES guiding principles.
- Act as an advocate for optimal patient experiences.
- Prioritize patient and employee safety as a fundamental concern.
- Foster a safe environment and promptly report any issues.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
- 2-3 years of office experience or one year of relevant experience in a medical setting - preferred
- Familiarity with electronic health records and Microsoft Office is advantageous.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-volume patient environment.
- Capacity to learn and utilize available resources effectively.
- Strong time management abilities.
- Capability to analyze information and draw appropriate conclusions.
