Position Overview:

As an Additive Manufacturing Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing technical initiatives and stages of projects that focus on the innovation and enhancement of products and manufacturing processes. Your role will involve evaluating various options while maintaining a keen understanding of industry advancements, prominent organizations, and collaborative efforts with universities and international research facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the technical authority on projects related to additive product development.
  • Utilize advanced design tools, including topology optimization and generative design tailored for additive manufacturing (DfAM) using established commercial software.
  • Work closely with engineering teams and material scientists to promote the adoption of DfAM by enhancing communication and sharing best practices.
  • Guide and mentor team members and cross-functional teams in project verification processes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Direct Metal Laser Melting (DMLM) and Directed Energy Deposition (DED) design, while exploring new additive manufacturing technologies and integrating promising innovations into the AM teams.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in designing products for Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS), DMLM, or DED.
  • Background in manufacturing technologies.
  • Demonstrated success in enabling AM components designed for weight reduction, topology optimization, and lattice structures.
  • Familiarity with CAD and FEA systems.
  • Understanding of engineering systems, processes, controls, and quality assurance practices.
  • Eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with AM software tools, including simulation, slicing, and packing.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience operating various AM machinery and associated post-processing equipment.
  • 1+ years of applying generative design techniques for weight reduction, topology optimization, and lattice structures.
  • Experience in drafting and implementing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Leadership experience in Design Engineering with a focus on additive manufacturing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering standards, material specifications, and participation in industry consortiums.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE) in Mechanical Engineering.

Clearance Requirements:

Selected candidates will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
