Job Title: Counterterrorism Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Counterterrorism Operations Specialist to join our team at NANA Regional Corporation. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in supporting our client located in Washington, DC.

Job Summary:

The Counterterrorism Operations Specialist will support the planning, implementation, administration, and evaluation of multi-regional campaigns and programs designed to discredit Violent Extremist Organizations (VEOs). You will work closely with the Operations Team to research, develop, and disseminate messaging that will resonate with targeted foreign audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Operations Team through planning, budget, administrative, scheduling, coordination, and evaluation processes.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and support meetings, including reserving conference rooms, lining up equipment, drafting and disseminating agendas and other materials, and providing logistical support as needed.
  • Take notes, draft, and clear readouts, and track/follow up with action officers as needed.
  • Prepare leadership to participate in activities and events, including through in-person briefings and by drafting and clearing briefing checklists, talking points, remarks, Q&A, responses to taskers, and other written materials as assigned.
  • Coordinate input from across the team as appropriate.
  • Liaise with vendors, regional and functional bureaus, interagency partners, and staff of U.S. Embassies and Consulates in priority countries and emerging areas of concern in support of GEC CT operational efforts as assigned.
  • Support the Operations Team in resource planning functions, working closely with GEC CT support staff.
  • Draft internal memoranda for additional funding requests as necessary.
  • Monitor trends in terrorist activities as well as CVE efforts, identify opportunities, and recommend ways to fill programming gaps.
  • As needed, study, develop, implement, and coordinate U.S. government efforts to recognize, understand, expose, and counter foreign state propaganda and disinformation efforts aimed at undermining United States national security interests.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of current analytic thought on counterterrorism/counter violent extremism (CT/CVE) and ability to recognize and understand the propaganda of our terrorist adversaries, including an in-depth knowledge of terrorists narratives and the ability to identify and expose the gaps in those narratives.
  • Ability to synthesize and understand information and relevant insights from a variety of sources and a spectrum of viewpoints. Familiarity with the manipulative and deceptive tactics of VEOs and other high-control groups; logical fallacies commonly employed by VEO leaders to mask gaps in their narratives; and methods for helping populations overcome societal factors that increase vulnerability to VEO recruitment.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to establish liaison within the foreign policy and intelligence communities to exchange information vital to both spheres of operation.
  • Organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Creative thinking and analytical skills.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced work environment.
  • Maintain a flexible, team-oriented approach to work.
  • Excellent ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues.
  • A minimum of ten years experience in any combination of the following: post-secondary education, military, government, professional, and/or overseas experience.
  • Active Top-Secret Clearance.

Benefits:

NANA Regional Corporation offers a comprehensive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), and a range of other voluntary benefits. Paid Time Off (PTO) is offered to regular full-time and part-time employees.
