Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Methadone Counselor to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our chemical dependency treatment team, you will provide comprehensive counseling services to patients struggling with addiction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screening and Assessment: Conduct thorough screenings and assessments to identify patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Counseling and Education: Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions to patients, focusing on addiction recovery, relapse prevention, and healthy coping mechanisms.
  • Case Management: Coordinate patient care, including referrals to ancillary services, and ensure seamless transitions between treatment levels.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and statistical reports.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Certification: Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor-Trainee (CASAC-T) certification required; Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) certification must be obtained within three years of hire.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of work experience in chemical dependency, behavioral healthcare, or social services.
