About the Role

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join its IT Development Program. This program provides participants with the opportunity to advance their technical and leadership skills through challenging assignments across multiple areas of the business.

As an IT Development Program participant, you will have the chance to work on various teams in different worksites over a three-year period, allowing you to diversify your technical skills and build your professional network. You will also have the opportunity to learn from Caterpillar technical leaders and experts in a variety of team dynamics.

What You Will Do

As a participant in the IT Development Program, you will complete three 12-month rotations, which are defined based on business needs. You must be willing to travel and relocate to any of the three Caterpillar IT placement locations in North America upon hire and throughout each rotation while in the program.

During your time in the program, you will have the opportunity to work on various teams, including Cybersecurity, Computer Forensics, Identity Access Management, Applications, Cloud, Infrastructure Services, Enterprise Data Services, Treasury Process & Technology, and Embedded Software Development / Network Connectivity.

What You Will Have

To be successful in the IT Development Program, you will need to have proficiency in computer software applications or programming languages or technologies, such as Java, JavaScript, SQL, Db2, .NET, C, C++, C#, User Experience, HTML, AWS, and Azure.

You will also need to have demonstrated leadership experience and a desire to take initiative, as well as previous internship experience in Information Technology. Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, and interpersonal skills are also essential for success in the program.

Basic Qualifications

To be eligible for the IT Development Program, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a technical-related degree from a four-year accredited college/university.

You must also have a graduation date between December 2024 and August 2025, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and previous technical internship or work experience outside of the classroom setting.
