Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and supervise patient care based on competence, professional expertise, knowledge, and evidence-based practice.
  • Establish and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with other staff members, physicians, patients, patient family members, and the public as appropriate.
  • Provide guidance to interdisciplinary team members by supervising nursing interventions and assisting with related tasks.
  • Document and communicate all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient condition to the appropriate member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Coordinate plan of care with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to achieve desired goals and outcomes.
  • Communicate the plan of care to the patient and care partner(s) for the active involvement of the patient in the evolution of the plan throughout hospitalization.
  • Conduct hourly rounds with the patient and care partner, focusing on pain management, skin integrity, elimination, and other miscellaneous patient needs.
  • Conform to legal requirements of nursing practice and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a professional, cooperative manner when dealing with all members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Demonstrate understanding of organizational structure and utilize appropriate channels of communication.
  • Act as a resource for all aspects of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for employees and medical staff.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the approaches to and methods of Continuous Performance Improvement.
  • Access network and effectively utilize electronic applications (e.g., email, LMS, T.E.A.M, etc) on a daily basis.
  • Serve as a preceptor and role model to new personnel and nursing students.
  • Supervise and assign duties to unlicensed assistive personnel based on legal scope of practice, regulations, and hospital policy.
  • Collaborate with the supervisory staff to identify own educational and professional growth needs.
  • Administer medications to assigned patients as directed and assess and document patient responses; initiate appropriate interventions per Hospital/Unit policy.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with current California License required.
  • Graduate of Accredited RN school of Nursing.
  • Bachelor's degree / BSN Preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year current acute care registered nursing experience in Specialty area required.
  • Current AHA BLS required.
  • Current certification in specialty area preferred.
  • Experience with Open heart and balloon pump preferred. CCRN TNCC certification preferred.
  • Experience with EHR (Cerner MediTech etc) preferred.
  • LA City Fire Care required within 90 days of hire.
