Position Summary
The Buyer III acts as a crucial representative for the organization, serving as the primary point of contact for suppliers. This role is essential for sourcing materials, equipment, supplies, and services necessary for the company’s operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate and execute purchase orders in compliance with CPSR standards, based on approved requisitions and proposals.
  • Review and assess Purchase Requisitions (PR) to ensure proper authorization and compliance with specifications and contractual obligations.
  • Manage complex acquisitions with significant financial implications.
  • Analyze price proposals and financial reports to determine fair pricing.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to finalize terms, including cost, delivery, and quality.
  • Promote spending initiatives with small and disadvantaged businesses.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and databases.
  • Resolve issues related to receiving and accounts payable.
  • Facilitate solutions for delivery, quality, and cost-related problems.
  • Stay informed about market conditions affecting assigned commodities.
  • Meet with suppliers to evaluate offerings and identify opportunities for cost savings and quality enhancements.
  • Recommend process improvements for cost efficiency.
  • Track and report on cost savings initiatives.
  • Assist customers by interpreting procurement-related laws and regulations.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance job knowledge.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support organizational needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning new software.
  • Strong data entry and document interpretation skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with management and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to follow established processes and provide professional customer service.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to make informed recommendations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 10 years in a related field.
  • Ability to interpret military specifications.
  • Knowledge of cost analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Experience with FAR/CPSR compliant purchasing systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO9000 and AS9100 standards is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as ISM or APICS are advantageous.
  • Experience with Deltek/CostPoint is preferred.
  • Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
  • Eligibility for government security clearance is required.
