Job Overview

Position: Director of Clinical Case Management

The Director of Clinical Case Management is responsible for overseeing the essential functions of the Case Management department, including concurrent coding, utilization review, financial management, social work, and patient education. This leadership role involves planning, coordinating, and directing fiscal, personnel, and patient care requirements. The Director collaborates closely with Quality Management and Nursing Directors to enhance clinical outcomes and ensure seamless integration of the department within the organization.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field is mandatory
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license is required
  • Master's Degree is preferred
  • Proven experience as a Director of Case Management in an acute care hospital setting is essential

Core Responsibilities:

  • Formulates and executes departmental objectives, plans, and standards in alignment with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical guidelines of the organization
  • Oversees and assesses departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technology, service level assessment, and complaint resolution to meet performance and quality benchmarks
  • Manages staffing processes, including recruitment, orientation, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions, and ongoing education programs
  • Develops, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, ensuring compliance with allocated financial resources
  • Coordinates and supervises internal and external audits
  • Promotes a professional growth environment for team members
  • Incorporates evidence-based practices into departmental operations and clinical protocols
  • Provides clinical guidance to Patient Care Coordinators and Social Workers regarding quality, resource management, utilization review, and discharge planning
  • Evaluates the services and care provided in the acute care environment for medical necessity, appropriateness, and adherence to established professional standards
  • Collaborates with Nursing Directors to facilitate interdisciplinary patient care rounds
