Job Summary:

As a Bookseller at Barnes & Noble, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming environment, and sharing your passion for books with customers. You will be the face of our store, ensuring that every customer has a positive experience. Your knowledge of books, combined with your enthusiasm and communication skills, will make you an asset to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers, providing personalized recommendations and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Execute bookstore basics, including maintaining a visually appealing store, ensuring commerciality, and promoting key campaigns.
  • Stay up-to-date on books and industry trends, supporting the store with your knowledge to provide customers with a great experience.
  • Identify key titles and communicate with the team to tailor merchandise selection to reflect the community.
  • Assist with events and community outreach, promoting the store and its offerings.
  • Protect company assets by adhering to processes controlling shrink, expense, and payroll.
  • Model expected behaviors, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Work on the selling floor, requiring physical activity, and in the Café when needed.

Requirements:

  • Possess a passion for books and reading.
  • Enjoy working with people and providing excellent customer service.
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to lift, bend, and stand for prolonged periods.
