Sherwood Autism Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Classroom Support Specialist to join our Special Education Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal growth of our students with autism and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Support: Assist students with daily routines, transitions, and activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Classroom Assistance: Provide direct support to teaching staff, helping to implement lesson plans, behavior support plans, and Applied Behavior Analysis principles.
  • Organization and Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, including supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in scheduled meetings, trainings, and work hours, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and employee morale.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or less than 60 credit hours
  • Experience: Experience in special education instruction, working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, and mental health diagnoses
  • Certifications: Level 1 Medication Aid (obtained within 6 months of employment)
  • Physical Fitness: Successful completion of the POET assessment prior to commencement of employment
