Position Summary:

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing cleaning and janitorial tasks within designated areas to ensure that quality standards, safety protocols, and customer service expectations are met. This role involves utilizing protective gear in all relevant functions.

The Technician is accountable for the effective and timely completion of assigned cleaning duties according to a set schedule. Responsibilities include reporting equipment and cleaning product needs or malfunctions to a supervisor promptly.

The Technician will carry out various tasks, such as dust mopping and damp mopping floors in all areas, including entryways, corridors, classrooms, cafeterias, multipurpose rooms, and auditoriums. They must safely and properly mix and use cleaning solutions while adhering to all safety precautions.

Daily responsibilities also include cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, common areas, and furniture, as well as removing and disposing of trash. The Technician will empty wastebaskets and pencil sharpeners and may be required to remove graffiti from the interior or exterior of the facility when necessary.

Additional tasks involve cleaning shower rooms and water fountains, disinfecting floors, walls, and toilet bowls, polishing fixtures and mirrors, and replenishing lavatory supplies such as tissues, towels, and soap. The Technician will interact appropriately with facility personnel, supervisors, and the public, responding to customer preferences and complying with industry, federal, and state guidelines.

They must respond to the paging system in a timely and appropriate manner and follow infection control and universal precautions policies to maintain a sanitary environment at all times. Proper reporting, isolation, and handwashing procedures must be adhered to.

Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous custodial/janitorial experience is preferred.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to cooperate with co-workers and facility staff.
  • Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
  • After the training period, must be able to accomplish all responsibilities without supervision and do so without injury to oneself or others.
  • Must be able to be at work as scheduled on time.
  • Must be able to be on your feet, mostly walking, for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, and stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
  • Must be able to fully understand and complete all in-services.
  • Must live in the service area. No relocation costs.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Policies, as required by State, Local, and/or Customers.
