Job Summary

The Department of Forestry & Fire Protection is seeking a highly skilled Fire Prevention Specialist I to join our team. As a Fire Prevention Specialist I, you will play a critical role in preventing wildfires and protecting our communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fire hazard assessments and provide recommendations for mitigation.
  • Develop and implement fire prevention plans and programs.
  • Collaborate with local fire departments and other stakeholders to promote fire safety and prevention.
  • Provide education and outreach to the public on fire safety and prevention.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.

Requirements

  • Valid California Driver's License (CDL).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions

The Fire Prevention Specialist I will be required to work in a variety of settings, including outdoors in rugged terrain and in office environments. The incumbent must be able to wear respiratory protection equipment, including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and be annually medically cleared to be fit-tested for respiratory protection equipment.

Special Requirements

The position requires a valid California Driver's License (CDL) and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Temporary Appointment

This position is a temporary appointment under the California State Constitution. The incumbent will be required to take the next exam administered for this classification and may be terminated immediately once exam results are released if they do not apply to take the exam, score too low to be in a reachable rank, or fail the test.
