Job Summary:

Genesee Health System is seeking a Community Health Worker to join our dynamic team. This individual will work as an integral member of behavioral/mental health programs, providing education, training, and support to children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outreach and supportive services to children and families in community agencies, schools, and childcare settings.
  • Use the Community Health Worker model and other evidence-based crisis and trauma support methods.
  • Make referrals for other needed services and supports.
  • Work regular schedule with some night and weekend hours.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency and Michigan CHW certification (or complete CHW certification within 1 year of hire).
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working with children and families in a community agency, school, and/or childcare setting.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, holidays, or irregular hours to accommodate needs of the services recipients.
  • Must have a valid Michigan driver's license, current automobile insurance, and own transportation or the use of a vehicle during working hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Genesee County community resources.
  • Current or previous recipient of mental health services or community resources; or was caregiver to someone participating in these services.
  • Currently holds Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
