REPORTS TO: Plant Manager or Operations Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Operations Leader is tasked with overseeing the daily functions of production and maintenance activities. This role encompasses ensuring plant safety, adhering to budgetary constraints, fostering a culture of quality, and achieving the strategic objectives of Tenneco Automotive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze production schedules and orders to effectively manage workforce allocation and enhance resource utilization.
  • Strategically plan production workflows; set priorities and sequences for product manufacturing.
  • Coordinate production activities to guarantee that product quality and specifications are consistently met.
  • Examine production and operational reports, addressing any issues to reduce costs and avoid delays.
  • Develop or update standard operating procedures and monitor employee compliance with these standards.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed within established safety, environmental, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Assess overtime requirements as necessary.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze production data.
  • Review maintenance documentation to identify and resolve issues, aiming to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the scheduling and execution of preventive maintenance activities.
  • Lead manufacturing engineering initiatives and Kaizen projects to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and reduce waste.
  • Formulate and track the annual operational plan (AOP).
  • Direct and facilitate the Business Operating System (BOS).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of Lean methodologies.
  • Proven leadership and human resource management skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Technical proficiency in manufacturing processes to implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of financial, accounting, and legal principles to manage operations effectively.
  • Experience in operations and facilities management within a manufacturing context.
  • Project management expertise and familiarity with SAP/MRP systems.
  • A minimum of five years of leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of SAP is highly desirable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment includes both office and manufacturing settings, characterized by artificial lighting, equipment noise, and varying temperatures. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in the manufacturing area. Occasional travel may be necessary.
