Position Overview:

Are you interested in contributing to a significant research initiative focused on the efficacy of the flu vaccine? This role is essential for a CDC research project and involves engaging with patients experiencing respiratory illnesses. We are seeking qualified research personnel to join our team across multiple clinics.

This role is specifically for research staff to operate within an urgent care setting. The Clinical Research Nurse will be responsible for reviewing patient schedules, screening participants, obtaining consent, administering surveys, and collecting biological samples, including throat and nasal swabs, as well as blood samples from select participants.

The ideal candidate should be proactive and thrive in a dynamic work environment. This position demands meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively. Previous experience in participant recruitment within a clinical context is advantageous.

This role requires the application of professional clinical expertise, education, and experience in the planning and execution of data collection for intricate clinical and health research studies. The Clinical Research Nurse will make independent decisions regarding data collection and trial interventions, with a broader scope of responsibility compared to a Clinical Research Specialist. This includes contributing significantly to intervention materials, study design, and research documentation, as well as providing comprehensive consultation on policies and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct clinical evaluations and interventions that necessitate professional clinical knowledge and training. Utilize clinical expertise to assess participant responses and make informed decisions regarding safety and participation.
  • Oversee the daily coordination of research activities, including the development of intervention plans, data collection tools, operational manuals, training for new staff, and report preparation. Ensure participant safety and maintain data quality control.
  • Assess participant responses and exercise independent clinical judgment regarding clinical interventions.
  • Collaborate with the research project team, participate in project meetings, identify challenges, and propose solutions.
  • Conduct medical record reviews that require professional clinical interpretation for accurate data collection.
  • Engage in interviews, both via telephone and in-person, as well as perform physical assessments as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience
  • At least two (2) years of experience in professional functions relevant to the project.
Education
  • Relevant certifications, licenses, or degrees as required by the research projects, such as registered nurse, nurse practitioner, clinical psychologist, or other health-related qualifications.

Additional Qualifications:
  • As required by the research project and field of study at the time of hire or transfer.
  • Experience in individual or group counseling and related research experience.
  • Familiarity with research data collection protocols and specialized clinical intervention skills as dictated by the projects.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory policies governing clinical research, including HIPAA requirements, and a commitment to patient safety and quality control.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ongoing professional development in research-related skills and knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in a health-related discipline.
