Overview

Position: Clinical Pharmacy Specialist

The Defense Health Agency is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to join our dedicated team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective management of pharmaceuticals within a military treatment facility.

Location: Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will oversee the clinical pharmacy operations, providing expert guidance on medication management and therapy optimization. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Acting as the primary resource for pharmaceutical knowledge, the specialist will offer authoritative advice on medication efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  2. Monitoring medication dispensing practices and analyzing data to identify trends, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards.
  3. Conducting educational sessions for healthcare professionals and patients regarding medication use, potential side effects, and adherence strategies.
  4. Participating in advanced practice activities such as Medication Therapy Management (MTM) and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care.
  5. Providing specialized support in areas such as Hematology/Oncology or Investigational Pharmacy, ensuring safe and effective medication use in complex cases.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a doctoral degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution and hold an active pharmacy license. A minimum of one year of professional pharmacy experience, particularly in an inpatient setting, is required.
