Job Overview
The Interface Analyst is accountable for the design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of both real-time and non-real-time Health Level Seven (HL7) interfaces utilizing Epic Bridges and commercial interface engine toolsets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop, map, and maintain all real-time and batch interfaces between various application software.
2. Define and implement interface specifications independently or in collaboration with application analysts.
3. Create HL7 code to effectively access and transmit data across applications.
4. Support and enhance new and existing interfaces adhering to current and future standards, including HL7, XML, fixed and variable length formats, and ODBC.
6. Document system procedures comprehensively.
7. Develop flexible training plans for departmental needs.
8. Generate troubleshooting reports for effective management of the interface engine platform.
9. Ensure data integrity across applications.
10. Test and quality assure maintenance releases prior to production deployment.
11. Ensure new installations integrate seamlessly with existing application and data environments.
12. Maintain system security and adhere to established standards.
13. Ensure compliance of departmental IT systems with regulatory requirements.
14. Demonstrate proficiency in using commercial interface development tools.
15. Collaborate effectively with various resources for ADT, Order, Schedule, Result, RFID, Billing, and Medication interfaces/web services.
16. Write complex join statements for efficient data access.
17. Utilize appropriate development tools to create and implement stored procedures for report authors and application programmers.
18. Exhibit a strong understanding of TCP/IP based networks.19. Work collaboratively with personnel of diverse technical backgrounds and skill levels.
20. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills along with excellent documentation abilities.
21. Thrive in both team-oriented and independent work environments.
Qualifications
Education Required:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience Required:
A minimum of three to five years of experience in systems analysis and programming in a scripting, procedural, or object-oriented language. Familiarity with HL7 messaging standards and experience in configuring and troubleshooting HL7 interfaces is preferred, with Epic Bridges certification being a plus.
