Position Summary:
A Recovery Support Advocate plays a crucial role in assisting individuals on their journey to recovery. This position is filled by someone who has personal experience with mental health challenges or substance use disorders and is committed to supporting others in their recovery process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a positive role model for clients facing mental health or dual diagnosis challenges, utilizing various strategies to promote recovery.
- Educate clients about available services that can aid in their recovery journey.
- Mentor individuals with mental health issues or co-occurring disorders, guiding them through the recovery process.
- Provide assistance in applying for supplemental programs and completing necessary documentation.
- Identify and develop services to address gaps in support for individuals with mental health or substance use disorders.
- Collaborate with treatment teams, ensuring client consent is obtained for participation.
- Facilitate intake and discharge planning in cooperation with other professionals.
- Monitor client satisfaction and relay information to relevant staff members to aid in problem-solving.
- Coordinate responses to inquiries from state and local partners as appropriate.
- Conduct presentations and offer technical support to various stakeholders, including Medicaid and mental health boards.
- Participate in committees and provide training to staff and interns on peer support service delivery.
- Document relevant information as directed by supervisors.
Qualifications:
General Requirements:
- Adherence to the ethical standards set forth by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with agency personnel and a diverse clientele.
- Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
Educational Background:
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
Certification:
- Eligibility for Certified Peer Recovery Supporter (APS) is required; current certification is preferred.
Travel Requirements: Minimal to moderate travel, primarily local.
Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday (day shift).
Compensation: Salary will be based on licensure and experience.
