Position Overview:
Randstad is seeking a dedicated Desktop Engineer (Level I) to support a significant project within a major organization. The ideal candidate will collaborate with IT management, engineers, and technicians to meet project goals efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and configure a variety of IT hardware and software systems, including desktops, printers, routers, and network security devices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Windows operating systems and Microsoft applications.
- Develop and manage installation schedules and create comprehensive installation packages.
- Document configuration changes and prepare test reports for each site.
- Assist in creating training materials for site personnel in collaboration with the training manager.
- Coordinate maintenance support and post-installation operations.
- Address basic Mac-OS device issues as needed.
Qualifications:
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Extensive knowledge of IT hardware and installation processes.
- Ability to interpret installation guides, wiring diagrams, and site-specific policies.
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with users and team members.
Technical Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in hardware installations or as a Tier II Customer Support Representative.
- Certifications such as CompTIA+, CompTIA-Network+, or CompTIA-Server+ are required.
- Experience in a federal government IT service delivery environment is preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a multi-platform Information Services environment.
- HDI institute certifications and ITIL certification are advantageous.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a public trust background check.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and at various locations as needed.
