Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of various capital and operational projects related to facility modifications and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Facilitate team dynamics, including chartering, problem-solving, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure that robust project management principles are integrated into all phases of project execution.
  • Develop solutions for critical business challenges and present viable alternatives, including business cases and project justifications.
  • Create comprehensive project plans that clearly define project scopes, team roles, milestone dates, and procurement strategies.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure objectives related to safety, schedule, budget, scope, compliance, and quality are achieved through established metrics.
  • Draft procurement and technical specifications for vendor and contractor services.
  • Collaborate with procurement to acquire necessary materials and services, manage purchase orders and contracts, and handle invoicing.
  • Negotiate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely completion of work scope changes as per contractual obligations.
  • Oversee ongoing design and construction activities, ensuring compliance with contracts and industry standards.
  • Review and approve design documents and drawings for adherence to compliance and company standards.
  • Coordinate the development of both conceptual and detailed designs.
  • Communicate effectively regarding issues and recommend appropriate strategies.
  • Engage with management, including senior leadership, to secure necessary approvals and manage project risks in line with corporate governance.
  • Develop and approve startup and testing procedures for commissioning activities.
  • Provide training to power plant operations and maintenance staff on newly implemented systems.
  • Document business processes within relevant divisions.
  • Coordinate construction management activities with field operations to ensure quality assurance.
  • Conduct check-out and startup activities, assigning tasks to technical leads and coordinating performance testing.
  • Offer subject matter expertise to support power generation operations and maintenance teams.
  • Analyze project data and generate relevant reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent technical experience in power generation.
  • Accountable for executing projects that align with corporate and business unit strategies.
  • Expertise in project management methodologies and practices.
  • Ability to manage significant engineering projects independently.
  • Proven experience in leading high-risk, multi-million dollar capital and operational projects with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated capability to mentor other project managers on technical and project management processes.
  • Ability to navigate complex issues and make impactful decisions regarding time, cost, safety, and reliability.
  • Participate in the development of a long-term capital budget for power generation.
  • Maintain effective communication with key stakeholders across departments.
  • Engage with power plant personnel through regular communication meetings.
  • Provide coaching to less experienced project managers and team members.
  • Create project updates and presentations for upper management.
