Job Title: Senior Project Manager - Power Generation

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and construction of multiple capital and O&M projects in the power generation industry. The successful candidate will have a strong background in project management, with a focus on power generation and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the planning, design, and construction of multiple capital and O&M projects, ensuring timely completion and within budget.
  • Facilitate teams, including team chartering, group problem-solving, and process improvement work.
  • Ensure the integration of sound project management principles and practices into all projects.
  • Develop solutions to critical business issues and present alternatives.
  • Develop detailed project plans and ensure project scopes, team responsibilities, milestone dates, and procurement strategies are clearly stated.
  • Steward projects to ensure project objectives regarding safety, schedule, budget, scope, code compliance, environmental compliance, and quality are met.
  • Develop procurement and technical specifications for vendor and contractor services.
  • Coordinate with procurement to solicit external materials and services as required for project deliverables.
  • Negotiate with vendors and contractors regarding work scope changes and ensure all contract commitments are completed on time.
  • Plan and monitor on-going design and construction activities for contract and industry code compliance, QA/QC program compliance, schedule performance, and quality workmanship.
  • Review and approve design documents and drawings for contract and industry code compliance, company standards, and practices.
  • Coordinate the development of conceptual and detailed designs.
  • Effectively communicate issues and recommend strategies and tactics.
  • Interface with appropriate management levels, including senior management, to gain necessary approvals and manage risk in accordance with corporate governance.
  • Develop, review, and approve startup and testing procedures for check-out, startup, and commissioning.
  • Train power plant operating and maintenance personnel on newly installed systems.
  • Develop documentation of business processes within applicable divisions.
  • Coordinate construction management team activities in conjunction with field operations for quality assurance.
  • Perform check-out and start-up in conjunction with plan staff, including assigning electrical, instrumentation/controls, and mechanical tasks to technical leads, and coordinate performance testing.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to support Power Generation Operations and Maintenance personnel.
  • Perform analysis of project data; generate reports and data.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in science or related field from an accredited university, or equivalent technical/craft work experience in power generation.
  • 10 years of power generation experience in lieu of degree.
  • Provides technical guidance, leadership, and manages the planning, design, and construction of multiple high-risk large, multi-million dollar, multi-disciplinary, complex, capital and O&M technical projects under minimal to no supervision.
  • Decisions may have significant impact on time, cost, safety, or reliability.
  • Participates in and assists in development of Power Generation 5-year capital budget.
  • Extensive interaction with upper management regarding Business Case and project status, Board of Trustee Presentations, contract implementation strategies, negotiation strategies, multi-unit strategy studies, etc.
  • Maintains high degree of communication with key interdepartmental stakeholders.
  • Communicates with power plant personnel via plant communication meetings.
  • Provide coaching to less experienced project managers, engineers, and other project team members to assist in their career development.
  • Creates project update videos and/or power point presentations for upper management.
