Position Summary:

The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for managing a range of administrative and clerical tasks to streamline the patient admission and scheduling processes. This role emphasizes effective communication with patients and visitors, fostering a high level of satisfaction and quality care. The position is primarily based in an outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome and assist patients and visitors, ensuring they are informed and comfortable. Manage multiple phone lines and respond to inquiries professionally. Address complaints and requests with appropriate attention.
  • Process physicians' orders accurately and manage patient admissions and discharges. Create and maintain patient charts and provide clerical support for departmental initiatives.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation, records, and reports are completed and submitted as required. Request previous patient records when necessary and maintain accurate departmental statistics.
  • Manage inventory of office supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels. Verify patient insurance status and collect co-payments as needed.
  • Facilitate communication between departments by providing necessary forms and assisting with the maintenance of hospital documentation. Perform confidential clerical tasks, including data entry and filing.
  • Inform patients about any necessary preparations for their appointments and confirm these details prior to their visit. Assist in scheduling appointments and managing departmental resources.
  • Maintain a clean and organized waiting area, engaging with patients and monitoring for any alarms or alerts. Provide support to ensure departmental quality standards are met.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, manuals, and meeting materials as required. Assist with research and provide administrative support for special projects.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
