Acute Care Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship

This 12-month training position is designed to prepare advanced practice fellows for the independent and fast-paced role of an Advanced Practice Provider in acute care settings. The program utilizes an interprofessional approach and professional development to equip fellows with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide high-quality patient care.
Program Highlights- Seven required core rotations and 12 weeks of elective time
- Didactics, precepted and autonomous practice, and clinical skills preparation
- Curriculum focuses on knowledge advancement, professional development, leadership, interprofessional communication, diversity and inclusion, and self-care practice
- Fellows work under the direct supervision of an assigned APP preceptor and physician colleagues
Fellows are expected to:
- Provide direct patient care to an assigned load of patients
- Perform comprehensive health, social, medical history, and physical assessments
- Identify and evaluate health and social disparities influencing patient health and well-being
- Diagnose and develop plans of care, considering cost reduction, health equity, and diversity
- Order and interpret labs and tests, and monitor medication effects and patient response
- Consult with other services and provide clear communication to patients and families
- Implement plans of care that are inclusive of patient preferences, beliefs, and abilities
- Function as a patient and family advocate
To be eligible for this fellowship, applicants must:
- Graduate from an accredited Acute Care NP program or Physicians Assistant/Associate program
- Hold an active license to practice in the state of Kentucky
- Pass any required licensing exams/boards
As a fellow in this program, you will have the opportunity to:
