Position Overview:

UofL Health, Jewish/South Hospital's Emergency Medicine Division is in search of a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP).

The Emergency Department APP is responsible for evaluating and managing patients presenting with urgent and acute medical conditions. This role involves performing necessary medical procedures and providing education to patients and their families. The APP will collaborate with physicians to ensure comprehensive patient care and will also have the autonomy to manage cases in the fast track area. Critical thinking and complex decision-making skills are essential for this position, which requires flexibility in scheduling due to shift work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with physicians to assess patient needs effectively.
  • Order, interpret, and document diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnose and manage critically ill patients.
  • Provide recommendations and consult with specialists as necessary.
  • Exhibit the ability to perform under pressure and make rapid clinical decisions.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and management skills.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with faculty, residents, and nursing staff.
  • Possess strong computer proficiency.
  • Manage patients with a higher level of acuity.

Qualifications:

Prior experience in emergency medicine is essential.

Licensure Requirements:

A valid Kentucky license as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) is required.
