About the Job:

We are seeking a talented Biotech News Specialist to join our team at Lifelancer. This is a full-time role that requires a strong background in journalism and biotechnology. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging content, managing our network of writers, and staying up-to-date with industry news.

About the Role:

  • Monitor news-gathering operations and keep abreast of industry news flow
  • Assign, edit and write daily news on the biotech and pharma industries
  • Compile, build and send daily (Monday to Friday) GenePool newsletter
  • Ensure that BioSpace editorial standards are maintained
  • Pitch and write exclusive features and special reports
  • Organize, edit and publish stories using a content management system (CMS)
  • Develop and maintain relationships with PR media agencies, investment analysts, and other key industry sources
  • Contribute to the development of an editorial calendar
  • Provide press coverage at key industry events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or the life sciences; advanced degree preferred
  • 2+ years of journalism experience with at least some editor experience
  • Impeccable writing, editing and organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical sector strongly preferred but not required
  • Strong communication skills necessary
  • Proven ability to develop and cultivate relationships with industry executives, PR agencies, investment analysts, and other key industry sources
  • Proactive approach to identifying editorial opportunities
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced, online publishing environment
