We are currently seeking a full-time Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Burbank Apartments. The ideal candidate will possess skills in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, HVAC systems, boilers, and general maintenance. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can adapt to shifting priorities and communicate effectively. A strong commitment to service and pride in one’s work are essential.

  • Reporting Structure: This position reports to Jamillah Malone, Property Manager.
  • Work Schedule: Regular hours are 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, with potential changes as per contractual agreements.
  • Compensation: Union wages and benefits.
  • On-Call Duties: Responsibilities will be shared among staff members.
  • Work Assignments: Tasks may vary based on contractual provisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare vacant units by conducting repairs, refurbishments, and cleaning in line with site checklists and company standards.
  • Handle on-call duties for emergencies, including plumbing and electrical issues, in collaboration with team members.
  • Respond promptly to emergency and routine service requests, ensuring professionalism and efficiency.
  • Maintain site cleanliness by regularly collecting and disposing of refuse from common areas.
  • Perform snow removal duties, including shoveling and operating equipment as necessary.
  • Adhere to preventative maintenance schedules as required by the site.
  • Participate in annual inspections of apartments as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Adapt to organizational changes by taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Work overtime when required for snow removal tasks.
  • Maintain a professional appearance by wearing company-issued uniforms and grooming standards.
  • Exhibit courtesy and respect towards residents at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, carpentry, and general maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Proficient in reading product instructions and safety materials.
  • Capable of accurately completing work orders.
  • Effective communication skills with site staff and residents.
  • Ability to follow directions and operate snow removal equipment safely.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license as per site requirements.
  • Previous experience in general maintenance or a related field is preferred.
