Position Overview

The Charge RN at the Pain Treatment Center is responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care utilizing the nursing process in alignment with established standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement care plans, including administering medications, collecting specimens, and providing clinical treatments and other medical interventions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities.
  • Continuously monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to the care team, physicians, patients, and their families.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, nutrition, and mobility.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure coordinated patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and addressing spiritual and psychosocial needs.
  • Assess the educational needs of patients and their families, providing tailored education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing and support staff during assigned shifts.
  • Determine staffing levels and assignments based on availability, capabilities, patient acuity, and workflow.
  • Provide direct patient care as necessary.
  • Assist staff with problem-solving and may take on patient assignments to meet staffing requirements.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify issues impacting patient outcomes.
  • Address complaints regarding patient care and services through established protocols.
  • Perform specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, managing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.
  • Ensure staff have the necessary equipment and supplies to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practices into clinical operations and protocols.
  • Foster an environment that promotes professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Required Skills

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment are essential.

Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.

Licenses

Current RN license to practice in North Carolina.
