Electrical Consultants, Inc. is on the lookout for skilled electrical power systems engineers to enhance our Planning and Studies division. If you possess expertise in conducting planning analyses for electric utilities or are engaged in the comprehensive study of renewable energy or large-scale industrial systems, we would like to connect with you.

Our Planning teams are strategically located across various offices nationwide, and candidates with relevant experience may be eligible for a hybrid or remote work setup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a diverse range of electrical studies, including steady-state load flow, short circuit analysis, transient stability, harmonics, insulation coordination, and dynamic system response evaluations.
  • Utilize industry-standard software tools such as PSS/e, PSLF, ASPEN Oneliner, PSS Cape, PSCAD, and EMTP-RV. Familiarity with related tools like TARA, ETAP, SKM, PowerWorld, and EasyPower is also beneficial.
  • Engage in studies primarily associated with large-scale renewable energy initiatives (wind, solar, energy storage) and assist clients with project conceptualization, design support, equipment selection, and operational issues post-commissioning.
  • Provide expertise in apparatus ratings and specifications for EHV/HV/MV/LV transformers, circuit breakers, switches, cables, switchgear, inverters, wind turbines, and both DC and AC auxiliary power systems.
  • Deliver services to a wide range of utility and industrial clients, addressing typical transmission-level load additions, long-range planning, generation interconnections, black start assessments, voltage unbalance analysis, breaker TRV evaluations, and insulation coordination studies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's or PhD preferred).
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in any of the following studies: Load flow, Short Circuit, Transient Stability/Dynamic System Response, HV/LV Ridethrough, TOV, TRV, Insulation Coordination, Harmonics, Interconnection studies.

Preferred candidates should have the ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license. Successful applicants must meet the insurance requirements set by ECI and may undergo client-mandated drug and background checks. While sponsorship for work in the U.S. is generally not available, candidates with advanced degrees and relevant experience are encouraged to reach out.
