RMA Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled RMA Technician (Backplanes) to join our team at Elma Electronic Inc. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for performing incoming evaluation, inspection, and testing and repair of circuit boards PCB received from systems (internal), and customer using approved testing procedures and schematics.

• RMAs Management: Keep track of all RMAs internal and external on the log.
• Work Planning: Plans and coordinates work assignments to meet schedule goals.
• Circuit Board Evaluation: Examines returned assembled circuit boards, applies knowledge of assembly IPC standards and customer requirements.
• Failure Analysis: Compares findings after evaluation against internal or customer feedback.
• Repair and Rework: Determine the root cause of failure for RMAs with occasional Engineering support and perform the necessary rework and/or repair to the RMA backplanes with manufacturing support as required.
• Inspection and Testing: Conduct inspection and testing of the backplanes after rework.
• Troubleshooting: Find solutions for troubleshooting backplanes.
• Reporting: Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing the type and quantity of defects detected during evaluation.
• Quality Assurance: Work with quality by issuing internal corrective actions as needed.
• Process Development: Contributes to the development of processes and procedures.
• Communication: Communicate with customers on testing and RMA issues.
• Technical Skills: Ability to set up, understand and troubleshoot com port connections and other basic computer issues as needed.
• ESD Knowledge: ESD: Knowledge of proper PCB board /component handling and ESD prevention practices.
• Test Equipment Maintenance: Troubleshoot, maintain calibration of test equipment.
• Quality Management: Support our ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management System.
• Additional Tasks: Other various tasks as needed to support customer requirements.

• IPC Certification: Current or past certification for IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 is a plus.
• U.S. Person: Must be a U.S. Person per EAR Part 772 and ITAR.
• Microsoft Office: Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• ERP Software: ERP software Microsoft D365 is a plus.
• Production Management: Experience using production and inventory management software such as MES/ERP.
• Electronics Knowledge: Good understanding of basic electronics concepts.
• Backplane Testing: Able to test backplanes of any complexity.
• Failure Analysis: Able to determine the nature and the cause of a backplane failure at testing and solve the problem.
• Schematic Interpretation: Knowledge in P-CAD and Mentor Expedition viewers.
• Troubleshooting: Experience with troubleshooting backplanes.
• Color Vision: Excellent vision and color vision capabilities.

• Associate's Degree: Associate's degree in electronics from a two-year college or technical school, equivalent military electronics school(s) or equivalent experience.
• Years of Experience: 3+ years of experience with printed circuit boards (PCBs).
