Job Summary

The Senior Transmission Engineer will lead the design of complex transmission line projects, providing technical expertise and overseeing project technical oversight. This role will be a recognized industry leader in transmission line design, providing best practices for related projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead transmission design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion, ensuring project needs and requirements are met.
  • Prepare transmission equipment specifications, data sheets, and purchase recommendations.
  • Lead economic conductor selection studies, lightning performance, and grounding calculations.
  • Review transmission equipment vendor drawings and data interface with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in project schedule, scope, budget, staffing planning, and construction planning.
  • Apply expert knowledge of transmission concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the transmission engineering services industry.
  • Lead quality reviews of production drawings and specifications.
  • Lead field inspections, installation, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
  • Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers, and contractors, and develop new business opportunities.
  • Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the transmission engineering practice.
  • Responsible for QA/QC process adherence and effective communication with other engineering disciplines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering a plus.
  • 7 years transmission engineering experience, with EPC project experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures, with strong knowledge of transmission design codes and computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
