Job Summary

The Service Desk Specialist Lead will be responsible for addressing technical issues to ensure a quick restoration of service or proper escalation. This role will provide real-time escalation for customer, technical, and administrative issues by offering Tier 1 remote desktop support and collaborating with Tier 2 support staff to escalate advanced issues.

This position will follow up on all trouble reports and proactively generate technical documentation in the form of knowledgebase articles, internal documentation, and inter/intra team correspondence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Tier 1 remote desktop support and escalate advanced issues to Tier 2 support staff
  • Follow up on all trouble reports and generate technical documentation
  • Participate in and/or lead major incident responses, including engaging proper communication channels or leading a phone bridge
  • Act as a resource specialist and team lead by providing guidance to lower-level staff and assisting the supervisor with scheduling staff
  • Lead, direct, and participate in training of new and existing employees, maintain and nurture the team dynamic, and make a positive impact on the team and their work
Requirements
  • Associate degree
  • Two (2) years of customer service or information technology experience
  • In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical individuals at all levels
  • Recognize problem areas and propose necessary changes
  • Mediate between technical groups to obtain timely resolutions
  • Work well under pressure, facilitate solutions, and meet deadlines and milestones
  • Communicate comfortably, effectively, and respectfully with individuals of diverse experiences, abilities, languages, and goals

Purdue University will not sponsor employment authorization for this position. A background check will be required for employment in this position.

This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime. Purdue University offers a substantial benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a generous paid time off package for sick and vacation days.
