Oncology and Lymphedema Physical Therapist

As a key member of the rehabilitation team, you will provide specialized Lymphedema and Oncology Rehabilitation services aimed at helping patients achieve their highest functional potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations and ongoing assessments tailored to each patient's unique condition, addressing specific needs and behaviors.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to establish treatment goals that are specific and time-sensitive, facilitating the patient's discharge to their home environment with optimal functionality.
- Formulate and adjust treatment plans based on the goals set by the interdisciplinary team, in partnership with the physician, patient, and family.
- Oversee and guide Therapy Aides in patient care activities in accordance with hospital policies and medical regulations.
- Maintain accountability for attendance, punctuality, and overall reliability, ensuring effective performance and timely completion of all assigned tasks.
- Educate patients on appropriately dosed exercise programs to enhance lymphatic circulation.
- Provide guidance for the development of a home management program for long-term lymphedema care.
- Instruct patients on skin care practices to mitigate infection risks associated with lymphedema.
- Apply compression bandaging techniques.
- Perform manual lymphatic drainage.
- Measure and fit patients with suitable compression garments.
- Evaluate and treat conditions such as axillary web syndrome and upper quadrant soft tissue changes following breast cancer surgery and radiation therapy.
- Deliver education on lymphedema management and infection risk reduction.
- Implement exercise programs aimed at lymphedema prevention.
Required:
- Valid Physical Therapist license in the State of Washington.
- Baccalaureate, Master's Degree, or certificate in Physical Therapy.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by the time of hire.
- Expertise in addressing the needs of patients across various age groups, from young adults to geriatrics.
- Two years of experience in Lymphedema and Breast Cancer Rehabilitation.
- Lymphedema Rehabilitation Certification from an accredited program.
- Proficiency in Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of breast cancer forms, diagnostics, treatment modalities, and associated side effects.
