Job Overview

North Kenilworth Veterinary Care is seeking a skilled Veterinary Hospital Operations Manager to lead our team in enhancing the performance of our veterinary facilities.

The Hospital Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the business and personnel aspects of our practice. This position is responsible for all operational and support functions, including human resources, financial management, and business activities. The ideal candidate will communicate a vision of excellence while fostering a positive and productive team culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Lead Veterinarian and Area Manager to cultivate an environment that supports high-quality and efficient animal healthcare.
  • Lead efforts to create and sustain a collaborative, high-performing, and positive workplace atmosphere.
  • Act as the primary contact for all daily operational functions of the practice.
  • Assist in strategic business development and operational planning initiatives.
  • Oversee all departments that contribute to the business operations of the hospital, focusing on financial performance, growth, and human resources.
  • Accountable for the financial health of the assigned hospital. Develop financial strategies and objectives to ensure profitability. Monitor progress towards financial goals and provide regular updates to the team, fostering a sense of ownership regarding financial performance.
  • Analyze data related to the hospital's performance, including daily revenue, average invoice amounts, and labor costs. Prepare comprehensive reports and summaries for key stakeholders.
  • Coach, manage, mentor, and train direct reports. Conduct performance evaluations and address any performance or behavioral issues while providing constructive feedback.
  • Encourage staff development and growth by promoting educational opportunities and job-related training.
  • Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of hospital staff, outlining job expectations, policies, and procedures.
  • Build relationships with local veterinary practices and community leaders to enhance the hospital's visibility.
  • Work with the hospital team to develop marketing strategies that align with business objectives. Ensure marketing initiatives are effectively implemented and assessed for success.
  • Manage human resources issues while maintaining knowledge of relevant employment laws to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with medical teams and support staff to manage schedules effectively.
  • Oversee maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Stay informed about OSHA, DEA, and other regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in operations, financial management, and/or human resources, with specific experience in a hospital management role within the veterinary or healthcare industry. Experience in leading a large team is preferred.
