Network Administrator Lead Job Description

Epsilon, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Network Administrator Lead to oversee and manage the operation and maintenance of network infrastructures within domestic and international environments and data centers.

This role will support a large enterprise effort on a federal contract, ensuring network availability, security, and performance. The successful candidate will coordinate with cross-functional teams and provide guidance to junior network administrators, focusing on the implementation of best practices and compliance with federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of network administrators in day-to-day operations and maintenance of network systems.
  • Design, configure, and maintain Cisco-based network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime.
  • Implement network security measures and protocols to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with federal standards.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to support the integration of new technologies and services.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to network configurations, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct training and mentoring for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in capacity planning and network expansion projects to meet future business needs.
  • Coordinate with vendors for procurement and support of network equipment and services.
  • Ensure adherence to SLAs and provide regular reporting on network performance and incidents.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco networking technologies, including CCNA or CCNP certification.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Knowledge of cloud networking concepts and architectures (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of computer desk work.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other computer components.
  • Speaking and hearing are sufficient to converse and understand conversations, both in-person, telephone, and virtual meetings.
