Job Title: Network Engineer - Hybrid Reston, VA

This is a 12-month contract-to-hire position with a company located in Herndon, VA, requiring 3 days of on-site work per week.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking, including performance monitoring, problem troubleshooting, and capacity planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement network landscape, configuration, and standards
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide 24/7 support
  • Manage relationships with vendors for network infrastructure components
  • Develop and implement change management methodology and communication strategy
  • Conduct incident diagnosis, corrective actions, and root cause analysis
  • Supervise configuration, testing, installation, modification, and maintenance of network communications components
  • Manage relationships with vendors for network infrastructure components
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7 years of IT experience, with at least 4 years of networking/telecom experience
  • Hands-on experience with multiple network-computing hardware components
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and related networking protocols
  • Desirable: Experience with telephony, desktop operating systems, and server environments
Desirable Skills:
  • Proficient in UNIX (Perl, Python, Shell scripting)
  • Proficient in Windows administration
  • Experience with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure)
  • Professional industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCDP, AWS, Azure)

This position requires the ability to work flexibly, self-motivated, and independently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with IT and business management.
