Job SummaryThe Plumbing Department Manager is responsible for operational and sales leadership within the department. This role ensures the highest quality of customer service is provided at all levels, from sales to project execution and continued support.
Key Responsibilities- Provide overall leadership for the department, aligning goals and objectives with the division and company.
- Seek out and complete bid opportunities through client relationships, network opportunities, and public postings.
- Ensure all aspects of projects are completed safely, on or under budget, and within the designated timeframe.
- Directly oversee staff in the assigned department, setting goals, reviewing performance, and developing staff to reach their potential.
- Provide supervision and leadership to the department, guiding staff in areas such as mentoring, coaching, and individual development plans.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources Manager to ensure proper employee support and needs are addressed in a timely manner.
- Determine and implement opportunities for margin enhancement and manage department budget, with bottom-line responsibility for department profitability.
- Develop growth strategies for the department with the Division Manager and Branch Manager, driving expansion of sales and customer base.
- Remain aware of market competition and be prepared to react to changes.
- Aid and assist in the preparation of estimates, supporting and mentoring direct reports or other employees as needed.
- Report on WIP statistics at monthly financial meetings.
- Oversee Field Superintendents and provide guidance for field operations.
- Develop good relationships with field staff to ensure strong project communication between project managers and field project leads.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with current clients and create relationships with potential future clients.
- Promote a team atmosphere and build loyalty for IKM.
- May perform field activities and job site visits as required.
- Participate in Division/Company meetings as requested.
- Perform additional assignments as requested and maintain a teamwork attitude.
- Adhere to current policies and procedures.
- Minimum 5 years of construction management experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications, construction plans, and broad understanding of mechanical systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to handle confidential information.
- Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks.
