Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care at St. David's Medical Center. As a key member of the healthcare team, this professional coordinates and administers respiratory care therapies to patients with various respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Administer oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy as prescribed by physicians.
  • Assist with the placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify physicians of any unintended responses.
  • Transport ventilator-dependent patients safely and efficiently.
  • Respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.
Requirements
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist certification.
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner certification.
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field.
