Financial Reporting Analyst

Securian Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled Financial Reporting Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our financial reporting team, you will play a critical role in preparing and distributing internal financial statements, regulatory accounting filings, and external audited financial statements and disclosures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and complete financial reports on a timely basis
  • Analytically review financial statements
  • Provide financial assistance to product line and subsidiary financial managers
  • Assist with the quarterly consolidation of GAAP financial statements
  • Participate in the preparation of annual earnings, operating budgets, and goals and plans for subsidiaries
  • Assist in monitoring accounting changes and ensuring they are addressed in financial statements
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external clients regarding financial statement matters
  • Assist in the preparation of information relating to multiple employee benefit plans and coordinate with external auditors on audited financial statements
  • Keep management informed of changing audit requirements, new disclosures, and other relevant information
  • Assist in the completion of monthly sales reporting and participate in special projects as needed

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles as they apply to Securian Financial Group accounting systems, operations, and financial statements
  • Understanding of corporate system policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP accounting products
  • Strong communication skills to assist in resolving audit questions and providing quality service to business clients
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and math skills to accurately complete financial statements and design analytical information for senior management, industry associates, and regulatory authorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four-year accounting degree; CPA (or pursuing) preferred
  • Previous financial reporting experience
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and statutory regulations
  • Basic knowledge of insurance products, services, and operations
