Recreation Aide

Under general direction, assists in conducting recreational activities with assigned groups in the recreation center by performing the following duties.
Essential Job Functions- Respond to incoming phone calls and assist with making reservations and enrolling participants in classes.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the Center, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning the restrooms.
- Stock the restrooms and other areas.
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with Center staff and outside instructors by being courteous, helpful, and visible when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Knowledge of Center programs.
- Able to be tactful when dealing with the public and treat others in a courteous manner; to work on own when given instructions.
Education equivalent to graduation from a four-year high school with a diploma or GED (General Education Degree) and be at least eighteen years of age.
Language SkillsAbility to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
