Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and supervision to children in various programs, including summer programs, after-school programs, field trips, tutoring programs, and Saturday activities.
  • Assist in creating an environment that stimulates self-confidence, trust, and respect among children.
  • Remain attentive to the physical, emotional, spiritual, and academic growth of children under supervision.
  • Ensure the environment is age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and allows for children's personal expression.
  • Participate in character development/enhancement activities and service learning projects with youth.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and approach when working with children, parents, guests, and coworkers.
  • Report any special needs or problems of individual children to the supervisor.
  • Support the program in place for children in care and maintain a regularly scheduled daily plan, including elements of recreation, responsibility, and spirituality.
  • Implement program changes as directed and maintain an awareness of the needs of children with an openness and flexibility for creative program changes when necessary.
  • Assist youth with homework, arts, and crafts projects, and implement recreation activities.
  • Provide safe transportation for children in van or other Buckner vehicle as required.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and in-service training, including CPR and First Aid training.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications; must attend CPR, First Aid, and restraint training as required.
  • Ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner's insurance policy.
  • Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.
  • Ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
