Job Title: Power Electronics Controls Engineer

Life Cycle Engineering, a leading provider of advanced electrical power systems, is excited to offer a highly motivated Power Electronics Controls Engineer position in Philadelphia, PA. This role combines technical expertise, project leadership, and innovation to develop transformative power systems for naval applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive innovative solutions for complex power systems using knowledge of power systems, dynamics, and real-time control software.
  • Provide engineering support for complex systems, including problem analysis, requirements updates, and solutions to meet technical specifications.
  • Conduct risk assessments and analysis through modeling and simulation techniques to enhance system reliability.
  • Develop technical presentations and documentation for design reviews, technical boards, and related events.
  • Oversee the full systems engineering process, including software requirement updates, implementation, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting.
  • Lead maintenance and operation procedures to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Participate in the development of new power electronics initiatives, including design studies and failure review boards.
  • Develop expertise in power switches, gate drivers, and analog/digital sensors, and apply this knowledge to project requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, specifically in Power Systems Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in power, power systems, or energy applications.
  • Proven experience with power distribution, 3-phase power systems, AC/DC drives, and controllers.
  • Experience with controls and sensors in engineering applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with motor drives, medium voltage switchgear, protective relaying, and solid-state power conversion.
  • Background working with or for the U.S. Navy, or familiarity with naval power electronics systems.
  • Familiarity with CMMI standards and industrial automation.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
