About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our team at Barry-Wehmiller Companies Inc. As a key member of our Control System Integration Practice, you will work closely with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and implement control systems for our clients in the food & beverage, life science, or advanced technology sectors.
  • Assume accountability for project execution, including team leadership, project scope, quality of deliverables, budget, and schedule.
  • Design automation control systems, create project documentation, and drawings to meet client requirements.
  • Program PLCs (Rockwell) and HMI/SCADAs (FactoryTalk, Ignition, Wonderware).
  • Participate in various automation project phases, including installation, checkout, and start-up.
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully execute multiple project responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • A minimum of eight years of direct experience as a controls engineer working on automated processes/system integration in a food, beverage, consumer health product, or other industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in managing capital expenditure projects, including setting schedule, budget, change controls, commissioning, and startup of capital equipment, managing subcontractors, and junior engineers.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of control system architectures (PLC, HMI, industrial networks, and related automation hardware/software).
  • A solid understanding of industrial control panel design and fabrication (UL508A).
  • Engineering consulting experience (preferred).
  • A willingness to travel for project requirements, including installation and start-up activities, client and company-sponsored meetings, trainings, industry-related seminars, forums, and conventions.
  • A Bachelor of Science in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, or a related degree (preferred).
