Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) is seeking a highly skilled Electronics Hardware Design Engineer to join our R&D Industrial and Rotating Machinery (IRME) group. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing analog and digital hardware for protection relay products, including differential relays, transformer relays, and industrial protection systems. You will collaborate with a team of engineers to create development plans for projects, design electronic circuits, and interact with other discipline teams to deliver world-class products for use in critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing analog and digital hardware for protection relay products
  • Collaborating with a team of engineers to create development plans for projects
  • Designing electronic circuits and interacting with other discipline teams
  • Developing hardware specifications and preparing system level specifications
  • Writing and analyzing test plans, executing tests, and evaluating test results

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of combined experience in analog circuit design, digital circuit design, embedded hardware design, mixed signal circuit design, and power supply design
  • Experience with data acquisition and mixed system design, microprocessors, and FPGA system design
  • Knowledge of VHDL/Verilog and working knowledge of Xilinx/Altera/Micro Semi Tools
  • Simulation, timing, analysis, and synthesis experience
  • Electromagnetic compatibility and standards compliance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following: analog electronics, industrial controls design, digital and mixed signal electronics design, industrial controls, 3-phase and electric power systems, electric utility telecommunications, leadership experience or training

Pay Range Data:

King of Prussia: $88,000 - $136,000. Pullman, WA: $80,000 - $124,000. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
